Introducing My Official Travel Site!

What started out as a small Instagram page, slowly morphed into a site I am so incredibly proud of.

Em Around the World is a product of MANY hours spent not just creating a site, but of reminiscing and coming to terms with many things I have never shared with anyone before.

I felt compelled to create this site in the most honest way possible with the hope that I could inspire even just one person to take that leap of faith and follow the path they are meant to be on.

Or at the very least, to convince people to finally take that trip they have been dying to take – even if it is on their own!

For me, this journey has had several paths, all of which could not have been possible without coming face to face with some hard truths and some ugly moments first.

While travel has been a part of my life for a long time, it wasn’t until I took my first solo trip abroad that everything changed. Now,  it’s as though I have stumbled upon something that I can never turn back from again.

I’m so excited for the new experiences future trips will bring and the stories I will be able to tell you.

This is the first time I’ve ever had a site like this before, so I hope you will follow my adventures and leave your thoughts/ comments/ suggestions along the way!

PLACES TO SEE THIS YEAR

My goal this year is to visit at least 6 new countries and 12 new cities, including the Sahara Desert.

Heck, a new continent too…why not?

On the road, you often hear travelers talk about how trips are better when they are unplanned. Life always seems to have curveballs prepared to throw your way the second you feel confident a plan has been set in place.

I am the first to admit that whether these curveballs are good or bad, they always make for a fantastic travel story! However, my Type-A/OCD personality can’t help but take over and create some sort of plan anytime I set off on a new adventure.

As I mention in 8 Travel Mistakes To Avoid That Will Save you Hundreds, certain things like transportation are cheaper when purchased in advance.

To that end, I always create somewhat of a skeleton for the beginning of any trip. Some flights are scheduled, hostels booked and train tickets purchased, but contrary to what my Type-A personality asks of me, I always make sure to leave some room for life’s unpredictability.

The Future of Em Around the World

I am excited to see all of the possibilities for the future of this site and can’t wait to watch it develop and hopefully grow to become a resource for travelers.

Now, I invite you to join me on this journey. I look forward to reading your comments and answering all your questions as we set out together around the world.

HAPPY TRAVELING!
